At a critical time
when people are thinking the Distinguished Senator representing one of the constituencies
in Bayelsa State of Nigeria, Sen. Ben Bruce will be in low mood, the boisterous
media guru has come out bold to face the Assets Management Company of Nigeria
(AMNCON) for clamping down on his assets over a whopping N11b debt.
According to a
response monitored from his twitter handle, the politician seems to be
unperturbed as he said, ‘’tough time don’t last but tough people do, we shall
sort it out and settle whatever it is’’, he said.
The business
activities of the politician’s Silverbird Group which consists of Silverbird
TV, Rhythm FM, Silverbird Cinemas and also the organizers of the annual Most
Beautiful Girl in Nigeria Beauty Pageant as well as the Mr. Nigeria Contest has
been put on hold by AMCON over un-serviced N11b debt.
The Assets Management Company of
Nigeria (AMNCON), yesterday took over all assets owned by the distinguished Senator-led
Silverbird Group over an Eleven billion naira debt.
A check on Silverbird TV, Channel
252 on Dstv confirmed that the station has gone of air. As at the time of filing this report, no
official statement has been made by the management of the Silverbird Group.
Individual and private shops and
businesses operating inside the Silverbird Galleria on Ahmadu Bello Way,
Victoria Island, Lagos were also affected by this development as police
officers have barricaded the premises. MTN, Barcelos, Airtel, are some of the
tenants in the said complex.
A senior staff of Silverbird Group
who pleaded anonymity informed us that Senator Ben Bruce is already talking
with his lawyers with a view to upturning the seal-off through the courts.
